Ashura Day is organized on October 6 in Plovdiv. The culinary initiative is the work of the Turkish community in the southern city. During it, everyone will be able to try the sweet temptation completely free of charge and see clearly what techniques its preparation requires.
Ashure, also known as the dish of peace and the oldest dish in the world, will be prepared outdoors today in front of the famous Jumayya Mosque in the City under the Hills.
The culinary event will start exactly at 12.00. While it is running, the residents and guests of Plovdiv will see the steps that are followed in making ashura, because this ritual is an art. They will learn unsuspected facts about the delicious dessert and will be able to taste it.
The organizers of the event hope that the celebration of Ashura Day will become an established tradition in Plovdiv.
Through it, they want to bring together different ethnic groups inhabiting the city and show that they can live in peace, harmony and understanding regardless of their different religions and ethnicity.
According to legend, ashura is the oldest specialty in the world. It is said that it was even a weakness of Noah himself. For this reason, some call it Noah's pudding.
It is served during Islamic holidays, but is also part of the culinary traditions of a number of Christian countries.
