Today, June 24, is celebrated The feast of Teteven brine. During the event, locals and tourists will be able to become part of curious culinary demonstrations and enjoy excellent brandy appetizers.
Teteven organized the celebration of the local brine, which is actually fish soup, for the second year in a row. Throughout the day on the streets of the city local chefs will show live the magic of making fish soup from different species of small river fish and crabs, typical only for the Teteven region.
Teteven fish soup can be consumed both hot, for an appetizer to high-alcohol drinks, and cold - for example after drinking.
The main rule for Teteven brine is to be very sour, salty and hot. However, its composition does not prevent it from being consumed by people with ulcers and gastritis.
The reason is that all cellulose flakes are removed in advance and thus do not irritate the stomach. One of the rules that the Teteven virtuosos of the ladle follow is: If after the third spoon there is no sweat on your forehead and the soup does not itch loudly, then the brine is not made properly.
In addition to Teteven brine, the surrounding villages will have the opportunity to present their traditional fish dish during the holiday. Chefs from the mayoralties of Ribaritsa, Cherni Vit, Glozhene, Golyam Izvor, Divchovoto and other villages have turned their participation.
Following the example of last year's event, this year will be a demonstration of old ways of catching fish, as well as the stocking of the river Beli Vit.
During the day, every hotelier and restaurateur will have the opportunity to demonstrate to visitors a rich cuisine and present their products and services.
The holiday will be accompanied by a folklore program and a great mood. This year Teteven is expected to attract many more guests and lovers of authentic Balkan cuisine.
