Nearly a ton and a half of olives of unclear origin and dubious quality were seized during a joint operation of the ODMI-Pazardzhik and the Regional Directorate of Food Safety in Pazardzhik.
The action was launched by the employees of the Sector for Combating Economic Crime. So far, several surprise inspections have been carried out in warehouses and retail outlets in Pazardzhik.
During such an inspection of a warehouse in Pazardzhik, several plastic cans were found, which were stored illegally imported olives. Neither documents of origin nor a quality certificate have been submitted for them.
The olives will be destroyed, and several acts for established violations have been drawn up on their own.
In Ruse, inspections are also underway to search for illegal products, but the cohabitants of the regional directorate of the Ministry of Interior are more focused on the detection of illegal alcohol, as at this time of year in our country brandy and wine are traditionally brewed.
During the last inspection of the Customs Agency in Ruse, 260 liters of brandy were confiscated from a private home in the city. The inspection was carried out in the Sredna Kula neighborhood.
The illegal alcohol was found in the home of a 23-year-old youth, who did not present to the inspectors either a document of origin or excise duty, which are required by law.
Alcohol samples were sent for laboratory analysis, and administrative and criminal proceedings were instituted in the case, 24 Chasa reports.
