American psychologists advise people who want to reduce the amount of food they eat and lose weight to eat small portions, but at large tables. This trick can provide you with lower weight instead of undergoing grueling workouts and diets.

Appetite and a feeling of satiety go hand in hand with the size of the plates in which we eat and the size of the table, a recent study found. It turns out that the larger the table, the less you eat on it.

The diet is just as important as what you eat, says a team of psychologists at the Polytechnic University of California, supported by nutritionists.

The study involved 200 volunteers who were monitored by experts eating a large pizza.

One part of the pizzas was cut into 8 pieces, and the other half - into 16 pieces. One part of the pizzas were on small tables, and the other part - on large tables.

It turned out that the large tables were distracting, and the volunteers perceived both the eighths and the sixteenths as equal in size. As a result, those sitting on them ate much less than their neighbors at the small tables.

The head of the study, Dr. Brennan Davis, added that solid utensils predispose to overeating. With white and light dishes, our food seems tastier.

With the type of cutlery we can manipulate the appetite and thus promote weight loss.

In March last year, a team of scientists showed that monitoring appetizing food activates those brain areas that meet the assessment of tasting.

The species creates expectations in terms of taste and nutritional qualities, which prepares the possibility for a meal to be accepted or rejected, science says.
