In Sofia alone, 37 tons of unfit food were stopped during joint inspections by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency and the National Revenue Agency.

The most common violation encountered by BFSA inspectors is improper storage of food products, as well as unregistered sites, according to the Commercial Law.

Among the violations of traders in our country is the sale of goods without the necessary documents for their origin. This is the biggest threat to the health of people who buy food.

16 tons of food of non-animal origin - spaghetti, dried mushrooms, sprouts, soy, and 109 kilograms of canned fish - were stopped as unfit for consumption.

Some of the inspected retail outlets did not comply with the hygienic conditions, which are mandatory according to the requirements. One of these sites was closed and the owner was fined. The sanction for such a violation is between BGN 5,000 and 10,000.
