After an unprecedented scandal with the company, the McDonald's franchisee was forced to close one third of its fast food restaurants in India, reports the Bloomberg website.
Earlier this month, the company's management discovered that the Indian representatives of McDonald's - Connaught Plaza Restaurant, had violated important points of the franchise agreement.
For this reason, the 169 restaurants they operated had to be closed.
The local partner worked inconsistent with the franchise's policy and did not recover, although he was given such an opportunity, according to the company's official statement.
However, it is not clear from their words what provoked the dispute between their representatives in India and the leadership itself.
The situation has developed unpleasantly, especially for the company itself, which, in addition to closing a third of its restaurants in India, has yet to find a new partner.
India is one of the largest and emerging markets in the world, which is why the brand needs to reopen many of its restaurants.
India is the second most populous country in the world and has over 400 McDonald's restaurants, most of which are run by Hardcastle Restaurants.
Meanwhile, the fast food chain announced good news - their first self-service restaurant has opened in Kiev. Customers will be able to choose their menu from the big screen and pay in cash or by credit card.
The new restaurant operates in the Avalanche Mall in the Ukrainian capital and will serve about 1,300 customers a day.
