A salt festival will be organized on the shores of Atanasovsko Lake on August 28 for the third year in a row. This year's motto is Symbiosis, and various salty entertainments have been prepared for the holiday.
The theme of the festival is Symbiosis, as it will connect different events. The first of these will be a traveling exhibition dedicated to Atanasovsko Lake, called Symbiotic.
The exhibition will present the complex relationship between man and the salt lake - how man is connected to the lake, whether there is harmony and reciprocity in these relationships and what are the benefits for people and nature.
The idea of this year's festival is to promote Atanasovsko Lake near Bourgas. For more than 100 years the place is known as one of the largest salt pans in Bulgaria.
Salt is obtained by evaporating seawater. This year, the reserve, bearing the same name as the lake, will be 35 years old. The park is an excellent example of the interaction between man and nature.
The program of the festival also includes dance improvisation in the mud, bathing in lye, children's workshops for kaleidoscopes, presentation of products with colorful salt, games of constructor and puzzle, body art with mud, salt bazaar, opportunity to become a soloist for a day, air yoga, drum session, frame art workshop and lots of music.
This year, the salt train will facilitate access to the various parts of the festival - the production hall to the south, the children's and art workshops in the middle, the pools with lye and mud to the north.
The event will open on Friday from 4 pm and will last until 10 pm. The organizers of the festival are the Biodiversity Foundation within the Salt of Life project.
Salt is the most widely used mineral substance in the world. Annually, households use over 700 million tons.
Since ancient times, salt has been extracted by evaporation from seas and oceans. In Bulgaria, salt is also extracted by evaporation of sea water.
