The native buyer pays more for eggs than consumers in major European capitals such as Paris, Berlin and Brussels. Eggs in our country are 10 cents more expensive, announced the Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov in Plovdiv today.
We will not allow speculation on egg prices, the minister was adamant. According to him, producers should immediately reduce prices because their record values are speculative.
At the moment, there is an unreasonable increase in the price of chicken products before Easter and due to the increase in the demand for eggs for the holiday.
Minister Naydenov pointed out that we are a free market and the state cannot interfere, but the high prices on the shelves in the shops are definitely an attempt at speculation before the big Christian holiday. We will not allow speculation, the minister said.
It became clear that in the major European capitals Paris, Berlin and Brussels, eggs are 10 cents cheaper than in Bulgaria. Naidenov pointed out that field eggs, which are cheaper, can be imported. Paradoxically, the Happy Growing Directives apply to the whole of the EU, and there is no increase in prices in other countries.
The whole situation is like "testing" the market in our country before the holidays, added Minister Naydenov. Producers, for their part, justify that traders are speculatively raising the price of eggs and attacking producers from food chains.
For information only, the current price of eggs in Germany in Aldi and Liddle stores is 1.29 euros for 10 eggs.
