In the midst of the summer tourist season, the Regional Directorates of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) in the cities of Dobrich, Varna and Burgas will strengthen control in catering establishments and grocery stores in the resorts.

BFSA experts will pay special attention to mobile, temporary and seasonal sites, the so-called "Traps" and other stalls for fast food, fried fish and ice cream.

Fast food establishments located on the territory of the hotel complexes, including those of closed type, will not be missed either.

In connection with the frequent complaints from last year, there will be surprising unscheduled inspections of resorts and tourist sites that offer all-inclusive services.

The purpose of the inspections by the BFSA employees will be to establish whether the sites comply with the current legislation of the country as a building stock and equipment.

Proper storage of raw foods and products will be monitored for origins. Particular attention will be paid to the timing of food products, and food labeling.

BFSA inspectors will check for compliance with the new requirements in each food production facility to employ a person who has the necessary secondary or higher education in the food industry.

Persons who have education in another field, but have additionally acquired professional qualification in the same field under the Crafts Act are also allowed.

In order to ensure maximum public health, strict ongoing and surprising control will be carried out for the availability of valid health books, in which the preliminary and periodic medical tests have been performed, to which the employees in the food establishments are obliged to undergo.

The employees of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency will also monitor the periodic trainings and briefings conducted by the employers on the quality and safety of the food. Massive inspections will continue until the end of the summer tourist season.
