Fruits and vegetables are a must for a balanced diet. Even during the winter we need to get the necessary vitamins from them. But how to store fruits and vegetables from the garden throughout the winter or at least for most of it?

It is true that all kinds of fruits and vegetables are already sold in supermarkets all year round, but they can in no way be compared to the products we have grown ourselves. You can easily store apples, for example, for a long time.

Once they are picked, it is enough to put them in a crate in a row. Remember that the storage of fruits can only happen if they are not damaged externally - it is better to consume them immediately, as they will certainly rot quickly.

You can arrange straw under the fruit itself, the other easier option is to wrap each apple in a piece of newspaper or paper. Wrapped in this way, the apples will last a long time - this way, when wrapped in paper, the development of microorganisms will be delayed. Isolated from each other, apples will have a hard time transmitting rot.

This will allow you to leave them edible for a few more months. It is also good to keep the fruit in a cool place - if you have a house, it is best to be in the basement. The goal is to keep the fruit from being exposed to sunlight.

If you live in an apartment, you can store the apples on the terrace, again having to choose a place that is not exposed to sunlight. The temperature of the place where you put the apples should not be more than ten degrees or fall below zero.

In order not to freeze, it is good to wrap the apples with a suitable old blanket. If you put garlic heads between the apples, this will protect them from premature rot.

The last condition for the apples to last a long time and be edible is to check periodically whether there is any rot between them. If there is one, it must of course be discarded.
