How to make chips

The factory chips, which is produced by countless factories around the world, is not always the quality product we think we buy, often - at a solid price. As a rule, chips should be made from fresh potatoes, left no more than 24 hours. The conveyor principle inserts the potatoes into a channel, where they are cleaned of dirt, then go to the peeler, which rotates them until the skin is completely removed.

The next stage is the machine to divide the potatoes by size - large and small. Usually only the large ones are left to be cut. The cutting machines themselves determine the different shapes in which the chips can be made. Usually about 36 thin slices of chips are made from one potato. The sliced potatoes go to a giant water container with cold water, which washes them.

Logically, the conveyor belt then takes them to the dryers, which evaporate the excess liquid. This is followed by frying, which lasts about 3 minutes. The fried potato crumbs pass through another sieve strip, which drains off the excess fat. This is followed by a shower of salt and various flavors and after mechanized control of unusable pieces of chips, the product goes for packaging.

Of course, there are other ways to make chips. It is often prepared from dehydrated potato starch, which is mixed with water and goes to the end of the production cycle.
