To surprise your loved ones with an unconventional but very tasty beef stew with fresh potatoes, you will need to use spices that are not typical for this dish.
For this you will need half a kilo of beef - preferably from the breast. Cut the meat into very large pieces and place them in a wide-bottomed saucepan.
Fill the meat with water at room temperature so that it is at least three or four fingers above the meat. Boil the meat, periodically removing the foam with a slotted spoon.
Do not close the lid of the pot completely so that everything does not spill on the stove. If the water evaporates and the meat is still not fully cooked, add some water that you have boiled on the next stove or in the microwave.
The meat should be boiled until it becomes very soft and the fork comes out without red juice. It must be completely transparent so that it is clear that the meat is cooked.
When the meat is cooked and the liquid is very small, add salt, pepper and white pepper, ground ginger, nutmeg, finely chopped onion.
Wash very well half a kilo of small fresh potatoes, put them in a large colander and attach it to the pan. Cover it with a lid.
This is how you will steam the potatoes. When they soften, they are ready. Don't let them become a puree, because if they are overcooked, they are not as tasty and do not look good.
Two minutes before removing the meat from the heat, pour half a teaspoon of warm milk over it. Stir well and let it simmer for a minute or two.
Serve with a garnish of steamed potatoes and a fresh salad, preferably green. Be sure that everyone will lick their fingers!
