The Bulgarian is a traditionalist in terms of the dishes he consumes. Everyone remembers the taste of grandma's pickle, which he ate as a child. It is a tradition in the genera to pass on these recipes and in the future it will hardly cease to exist.
As in any recipe, so in the most common one for pickles, there is a not so secret ingredient, but it works magically on the durability of our favorite winter food. This is the addition of aspirin.
Aspirin is one of the best known drugs in the world. Extracted from willow bark, it has helped for years for children and adults with various ailments, such as painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as rheumatism. Another of its main functions is to dilute the blood and prevent cells from clotting.
This property manifests itself in another form when used in the preparation of pickles. Added in the right dose, aspirin does not allow the vegetables themselves to soften and become a pulp. It acts as a natural preservative without harming the body. In this way it prolongs the shelf life of the home-made pickle for years.
Here is one of the easiest recipes for Royal pickle:
Necessary products:
4 kg. cambi; 2 kg. Cauliflower; 2 kg. carrots; 9 teaspoons of water; 5 cups vinegar; 4 cups sugar; 1 cup salt; 1 head of celery; a handful of peeled garlic cloves; black pepper on the eye; aspirin (depending on the number and size of the jars).
Method of preparation:
All vegetables are finely chopped. They get confused in a big court. Pour in the spices, stir again and leave to stand for 1 night. The next day it is lined up in jars. At the bottom of each jar put 2 crushed aspirin and on top 2 more aspirin.
Pour over the separated juice. On top can be a wreath of celery leaves or cherry leaves. Maybe medlar leaves. The jars are closed and wait a few days - from 5, if warm, to 10 to become usable. And if it's cold, keep them turned on the caps and shake from time to time.
