The Christmas stump came to light because of the strange whims of Napoleon I. He decided to issue a very strange order - all the French to close their chimneys so as not to get sick. Of course, the order was obeyed by all, but this meant that French families would not be able to light a Christmas tree in the fireplace and feel Christmas. The Christmas Eve for the French is actually Bûche de Noël.
French confectioners have found a solution to the problem - namely with the Christmas stump. This is actually a cake that has the exact shape of a stump in a reduced size. The idea was to have a Christmas tree in each house, though not in the fireplace.
You know that Christmas Eve is a symbol of fertility and health, and for this reason, the idea of confectioners was very well received. The families managed to gather around Christmas Eve again. Here's how each of you can make a Christmas stump and even if you don't have a fireplace in your home, feel the warmth of Christmas Eve again.
Christmas roll - stump
Necessary products: 4 eggs, 75 g flour, 100 g powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, 1 teaspoon baking powder, a pinch of salt
Method of preparation: These products you need are the preparation of swamps. Beat the eggs together with the sugar for about 10 minutes with a mixer. The goal is to melt the sugar and you get a nice egg custard. Then add the pre-sifted flour, baking powder and cocoa and mix well. Don't forget the salt.
Mix well and pour into a rectangular tray on which you have previously placed household paper. Put the marshmallows in a preheated 200 degree oven. Bake for about 10 - 12 minutes. After removing the marsh, you need to turn it on another paper, which is sprinkled with sugar crystals.
While it is still warm, you should roll it up and let it cool down. Then you can unroll it and smear it with the following cream.
Necessary products for the cream of the stump: 2 egg yolks, 150 g dark chocolate, 125 g butter, 150 g milk, 4 tablespoons powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons rum
Method of preparation: Melt the chocolate in a water bath, adding the milk and egg yolks. The goal is for the cream to thicken, after which you should let it cool. The butter should be well softened and beaten together with the sugar. Gradually add chocolate to this mixture - spoon after spoon, then alcohol.
The cream is ready and it's time to spread on the marsh, then wrap again in the same way. Spread melted chocolate on top of the stump itself and make lines with a fork to remind it of a real tree.
