Whether the potatoes will germinate depends on the duration of their storage in sunlight. The moment they start to germinate or turn green in places or completely, it is a sign that the solanine in them has reached dangerous values for human health.

Sprouts contain about a hundred times more solanine than the amount found in the peel of potatoes. If stored for a very long time, the potatoes will start to germinate, and if they have at least one green spot, discard them immediately.

Consumption of such potatoes can cause dizziness, nervous disorders, stomach pain, vomiting, upset stomach, shortness of breath, seizures, fainting.
