We've all heard of carcinogens, but what exactly are they and where are they? And what is their effect on our health?

The word carcinogen itself originates from Latin: CANCER- cancer and Greek: GENES- birth. Literally, it is radiation from a chemical substance or a set of substances that, entering the body of every living being, contribute to the formation of malignant tumors.

Known carcinogens are nitrates, benzopyrine, peroxide, aflatoxin and dioxin. They are contained as follows in: nitrogen fertilizers; in grilled smoke in the preparation of grilled animal meat, as well as in cigarette smoke; in highly heated vegetable oil; in some of the mold fungi; in incineration of household waste and in chlorination of stagnant water.

But these are only a small part of the places where these dangerous substances are contained. They surround us constantly, in everyday life, in our home - they are around us all the time.

There is a large number of people suffering from cancer when working with liquid fuels. The vapors released from gasoline tanks are saturated with carcinogens. The same dangerous amount is contained in paints of all kinds. This requires a mask to protect the worker with these materials from the intrusion of substances into his body.

In the already processed gases from cars, the content of carcinogens is also in dangerous quantities. Not only does it poison people, this dangerous consistency also damages the environment, flora and fauna, and causes changes in ozone.

Perhaps the most interesting place, proven by increased carcinogenic activity, are smoked foods. Substances that can cause cancer accumulate on their surface. To avoid this, the skin or rind of the smoked food must be removed before consumption.

Chemicals and paper also contain many carcinogens. This may sound ridiculous, but paper, for example, goes through water treatment, and water with low chlorine content contains harmful substances.

Carcinogens are also used in many cosmetic products. This not only makes them of very low quality, but with frequent use can lead to unfortunate consequences. Therefore, when buying beauty products, read their contents very carefully.
