According to the results of a new Czech study, if we eat twice a day, we will be more successful in losing extra pounds compared to eating frequent but small portions.

For some time, when it comes to weight and food, the main thing we hear is that proper nutrition is a few servings a day, but small amounts. A new study conducted in Prague is trying to refute this information.

Researchers even claim that these two meals may have the same amount of calories, but losing weight will be much more effective than eating more often. The researchers are led by Hana Kaleova of the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague.

They found that people with type 2 diabetes lost more weight by eating twice a day than eating 6 times a day, provided the calories were the same. In order to conduct the research, the leader divided the 54 participants into two separate groups.

The diets lasted twelve weeks - one included eating 6 times a day and the other - only twice a day. In both groups, the calories consumed by the participants were the same as the food. The total caloric intake of the participants was reduced by exactly 500 calories.

The results of the study were as follows - people suffering from type 2 diabetes lost weight in both cases. However, in the group that ate twice a day - for breakfast and dinner, it turned out that the weight loss was greater. We are talking about 1, 23 points from the body mass index, and in the other group - the index decreased by only 0, 82 points.

Body mass index is calculated using a person's height and weight. It measures body fat - a healthy weight is between 18, 5 and 24, 9 points. The average body mass index of the volunteers who participated in the study was 32.6 points.

According to other experts, however, eating twice a day is impractical and they do not support the result of the Czech study. According to Toby Smithson, a spokesman for the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, two large meals a day are completely unrealistic.

Eating a lot at lunch and breakfast is almost impossible for most people who only have time to eat in the evening.
