The cold weather and the Christmas holidays predispose us to relax and warm up with a glass of hot drink. We can trust the tea or try something a little different. With the onset of the December holidays, we manage to find some time to spend on vacation.
If tea accompanies us on cold working days, during the weekends we can definitely try something warming and alcoholic. Alcoholic drinks suitable for Christmas are grog, mulled wine or traditional Bulgarian mulled brandy. If you haven't tried these soul and body warming drinks yet - do it this Christmas.
Grog is a traditional English drink. It is prepared on the basis of tea. In addition to being suitable for the holidays, you can safely prepare it for any symptoms of colds or flu - it will help immediately. To make English grog at home, you need tea, water, sugar and rum.
First make a strong tea - a cup of tea. Sweeten the tea with sugar and optionally add a pinch of cinnamon. After stirring, pour rum into the drink about 50 g. It is ready for consumption - if you like, add a slice of lemon.
Mulled wine is very tasty, but after it, like any other pre-heated alcohol, you will relax and probably fall asleep. Here's how to make mulled wine. We need wine, honey, black peppercorns. Heat the wine and add a teaspoon of honey, then stir constantly and do not allow the drink to boil.
Add the black pepper and leave on the stove for a few more minutes, stirring again and being careful not to boil. Drink hot. There are many varieties of mulled wine - some people prefer to put a pinch of cinnamon or cloves, others add a slice of apple.
Milk punch contains milk, cognac, honey and cinnamon. Very suitable drink for relaxing and warming up during the day, as it contains very little alcohol. You need a tea cup of fresh milk, which you need to heat and add 10 - 15 ml of cognac, ½ tsp. honey and so much cinnamon. Stir and once the honey is dissolved, the drink is ready for consumption.
You can make Glühwein - a mulled wine, but prepared in a very different way from what we drink in our latitudes. Gluvine is a German drink for which you need water, cinnamon, orange, semi-dry red wine, nutmeg, cloves. First, heat lukewarm ½ teaspoon of water, adding diced half an orange, a pinch of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon or a stick, 4 grains of allspice, 4 cloves. Boil for 3 minutes and then remove from the heat and leave for 15 minutes. Add wine and put back on the stove - let it heat up without boiling. The drink is ready for consumption.
A suitable Christmas drink is Mexican coffee, especially for those who love caffeinated drinks. You need 1 tablespoon of coffee, 1 tablespoon of cocoa, 2-3 tablespoons of liqueur, whipped cream and cinnamon to sprinkle coffee. Coffee, cocoa and cinnamon are mixed and prepared like ordinary coffee in a coffee machine - put in the machine and turn on. In the cups where the coffee is collected from the machine, put a tablespoon of liqueur in advance. Once the coffee is ready, put whipped cream on top and sprinkle with cinnamon.
The traditional Bulgarian means for warming up in the cold winter evenings is the heated brandy. Only brandy and honey are prepared (you can replace it with sugar, if you do not have one at the moment, the original is honey). Put the brandy and honey in a pot on the stove and heat it, not letting it boil. The amount of honey is according to the sweetness preference of the drink. Pour the drink into small ceramic (household) or porcelain cups - not glass, so as not to break from the temperature of the heated brandy - and say hello. It is drunk in small sips. It warms up without fail, reddens the cheeks, chases away colds, lifts the mood, but also gets drunk quite quickly.
