Regular consumption of carbonated beverages in adolescents leads to aggression. This fact is clear from the results of a study by American scientists who observed the behavior of nearly 3 thousand children.
Children who consumed more than 4 carbonated beverages were more likely to attack other children or pets. It is believed that their behavior is influenced by the presence of caffeine and fructose in beverages. Over 50% of teens in the United States drink energy drinks.
They contain between 75 and 400 mg of caffeine, guarana, cola seeds and other ingredients sources of caffeine. In addition to the aggression caused by carbonated and energy drinks, they also lead to toxic effects - liver damage, kidney failure, respiratory disorders, irritability, seizures and much more.
In Bulgaria, over 10% of teenagers are addicted to caffeine and energy drinks in general. The European Food Safety Authority has studied the two main ingredients taurine and e-glucuronolactone.
It has been shown that higher taurine intake can cause unpleasant side effects on brain activity, and e-glucuronolactone has side effects on kidney function.
EU countries ban the sale of such drinks to minors and put warning labels on their packaging.
