Autumn is full of juicy fruits. The amount in the gardens is much greater than the consumption. Therefore, in order to preserve the gifts of nature, we must use some proven methods.
Canning - in the broadest sense of the word means the preservation of food of animal or plant origin for a longer period. Compared to apples and quinces, pears have lower shelf life and lose more water.
- To keep the pears, it is good to arrange them in crates or cassettes, pre-wrapping each one individually with paper or polyethylene;
- Pear compote - You can prepare a fragrant compote of peeled or unpeeled fruit, cut into appropriate pieces. Fill them with very hot sugar syrup / per 1 liter of water - 400 g of sugar and 5 g of citric acid for 5 jars /. Sterilize for 20 minutes;
- Pear puree - Choose fully ripe, sweet and fragrant pears. Wash them and clean them. Peel them and cut them into slices, then stew them. In the bowl pour 1 tsp. water. Cook until the pears soften and the liquid evaporates. Strain, pour the puree into dry jars. Close with caps and sterilize for about 20 minutes;
- Pear jam - Peel the pears from the testicles, peel them and cut them into small pieces. Cook until slightly softened. Prepare sugar syrup from 1 kg of sugar and 400 ml of water / for 1 kg of pears /. Put the pear pieces in the boiling syrup and cook for another 5 minutes. Stop cooking for 7-8 hours, then add 200 g of sugar and add the jam. At the end of cooking, add citric acid and fill the jars. Close with caps and sterilize. The jam is very suitable for decorating cakes and pastries.
How to prepare pears?
- Choose fully ripe and healthy fruits. Clean and wash under running water;
- Arrange the fruit in a can or other suitable container and press with a wreath of vine sticks;
- Pour clean boiled water / the fruits should be covered with a few centimeters layer /;
- As soon as the fermentation starts and a sharp taste is obtained, place the drink in a cool place;
- The pear is ready in 2-3 weeks.
