Tarragon is known mainly as a spice in cooking. However, it has a very rich chemical composition and thanks to it - strong healing properties. These properties give it a worthy place in folk medicine.
Tarragon composition
The leaves and stems of the plant contain essential oils, coumarin, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins. They also have a rich vitamin and mineral composition: vitamin A and C, B vitamins, PP, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, sodium, iron, iodine.
arothine and ascorbic acid in 100 g of fresh herbs are up to 11%. Therefore, in ancient times, tarragon was used to prevent scurvy. Today it is a major source of vitamins valuable for immunity.
Useful properties of tarragon
Its beneficial effects on health are known:

- has a diuretic effect;
- favors diseases of the genitourinary system;

- minimizes the risk of developing oncology;

- improving the condition of the musculoskeletal system;

The stimulating properties of tarragon allow it to be used to increase potency in men and libido in women. The plant has a positive effect on the condition of blood vessels: it strengthens the walls, increases blood flow and prevents strokes and heart attacks.
In homeopathy, the herb is part of the treatment of pneumonia and bronchitis, cystitis, tuberculosis, chronic rhinitis and cough. Decoctions and tinctures of the plant are effective during viral epidemics. With the help of tarragon you can purify the blood and improve its composition.
In the absence of contraindications tarragon as a spice can be used daily in small quantities. This will improve digestive function, stimulate metabolism and strengthen the immune system.
Medicinal decoction, tarragon tea
If you grow tarragon, you can regularly rely on its benefits. Pour 1 tbsp dry tarragon in 300 ml of boiling water. Cook with the lid closed on low heat for 5 minutes. Leave to soak for half an hour, then strain. For the treatment of neurosis tarragon decoction is taken 100 ml, 3 times a day between meals. The course of treatment is 14 days.
In addition to making culinary masterpieces with tarragon, it is used in combination with black or green tea to improve digestion and increase appetite. To make the decoction, boil 1 tsp. tea and dried sprigs of tarragon in a glass of water. It is enough to steam for 10 minutes. Drink 100-150 ml of the drink at a time.
Composition for compresses, lotions, ointments with tarragon
In the presence of varicose veins in the legs, fresh tarragon helps. 2 tbsp. chopped herbs are poured with 400-500 ml of kefir, leave for 15 minutes. The mass is applied to problem areas for 5-6 hours. To fix the healing mixture, use a bandage or gauze.
In the treatment of stomatitis or gum disease at home is prepared special ointment with tarragon. To do this, add 20 g of chopped tarragon along with the juice to 100 g of butter. Place the mass in a water bath and heat for 15 minutes to combine the ingredients. The ointment is cooled to body temperature and the gums are lubricated 2-3 times a day until recovery. It can also be used for various skin problems. Store in the refrigerator.
Healing bath with tarragon
Effect of bath with tarragon: soothes, normalizes sleep, cleanses the skin, stimulates metabolic processes, relieves headaches, heals small wounds. The bath is taken the night before bedtime. The procedure can be repeated 2-3 times a week. To do this, make a strong decoction of tarragon: 1 liter of boiling water and 4 tablespoons of herb soaked for 30 minutes, filtered and added to the bath.
Ice cubes with tarragon
For problem skin prone to inflammation and acne, ice cubes are prepared from fresh juice or a decoction of tarragon to wipe the face. The fresh juice is diluted 1: 3 with boiled water. The decoction is frozen in its pure form. Ice is used to wipe the face in the evening after removing makeup and in the morning after waking up.
Tonic drink with tarragon
Pour 1 liter of water into an enamel bowl, add 50 g fresh tarragon stalks, cut with a knife and bring to a boil. Cool to room temperature and add the juice of 1 lemon and zest, add honey or sugar to taste (3-4 tsp). The useful drink is stored in the refrigerator and drunk for 2 days, after which a new portion is prepared.
Refreshing drink with tarragon
Chop tarragon with a knife, squeeze the lemon juice, pour the ingredients with mineral water and leave for 2 hours. Then strain and add sugar to taste. The drink is served in glasses with ice. For a more saturated and interesting taste, lime, mint or lemon balm, kiwi, sugar syrup are added to the classic ingredients. The longer the drink is soaked, the more fragrant and rich in taste it will be. You can leave the tarragon in the refrigerator overnight, and in the morning strain and add sugar or sugar syrup.
Contraindications to tarragon
All drugs containing tarragon, should not be taken for more than 1 month. There is a cumulative effect here, which can give not an improvement but a worsening of the condition. Individual intolerance of the organism is also possible.
Tarragon is contraindicated in
- pregnant women;
- people with gastritis and stomach ulcers;
- gallstones;
- with increased stomach acidity;
- taking antidepressants.
