Good food and drinks for the voice is a term conventionally adopted to outline a framework for what is useful to consume not only for a wonderful voice, but also for the good health of our whole body.

We often eat without thinking about whether a certain type of food has a negative effect on our voice. Drinking caffeinated beverages and very spicy foods can have a bad effect on our voice: it can cause irritation as well as dry throat.

Dairy products are a useful ingredient in our daily menu, but just when we have to talk for a long time, or have a professional commitment and keep our voice in optimal shape, we must limit their intake.

By eating more yogurt and especially fresh milk, we increase the secretion of mucus, which leads to the desire to clear the throat more often than if we abstain from these products for a short time.

The most important mark in the list of "good food and drink" for the voice is the intake of more fluids, and most precisely - just water! It is extremely useful to drink more fresh and clean water to have a good water balance in your body and to clear toxins faster.

In addition to good overall hydration, water also keeps the vocal cords moisturized, which is one of the first determinants of voice health. When singing, for example, the vocal cords vibrate at an extremely fast rate. If they do not have enough moisture, they become prone to damage, accompanied by feelings of discomfort and even pain.

One useful tip for voice care is to drink lukewarm water before speaking in front of an audience, and more. Slightly warmed water makes the voice softer and clearer, soothing the vocal cords. Very cold drinks or very hot ones stress and injure the tissues of the throat.

There are also several types of tea that are highly recommended when taken at a moderate temperature. These are: green tea, chamomile, yarrow.

In addition to plenty of fluids, we need to maintain a well-balanced diet by consuming more fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Especially useful are foods containing vitamins A, C, E. Vitamin A supports normal cell regeneration; vitamin C prevents the deterioration of the health of the throat and strengthens the immunity of the whole organism; Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects the cell membrane and also increases the body's resistance.

Liver, carrots, spinach, kale, apricot, papaya, mango are products extremely rich in vitamin A. Raw red peppers, oranges, lemons, kiwis, grapes, fresh strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes contain high relative levels of vitamin C, but it should be observed how these exemplary vegetables and fruits are consumed, because vitamin C is broken down very quickly during cooking.

Wheat germ, nuts, spinach, cabbage vegetables are rich in vitamin E and complement a common diet of preferred products for good voice health. These foods support the necessary hydration of the throat and protect it from infections, so we make sure we have a wonderful voice.

Honey is also irreplaceable! Especially useful for the whole body, but also for the health of the vocal cords and throat, in particular, is manuka honey. It has excellent antibacterial properties due to the ingredient "defensin". It is considered one of the richest in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants honey.

It also has a good effect on the throat and the miraculous elixir-cough syrup, known in Asian countries as "Chuanbei Pipa Gao", which means "syrup" and the plant from which it is made - "fritillaria".

However, this conditional diet is part of a larger system of care that we need to provide. Along with the intake of healthy food and drinks, we should be in good general condition, exercise more and not overload our voice.
