On June 29 The Orthodox Church honors the memory of the Holy Apostles and propagators of Christianity Peter and Paul.
Today is the end of Lent and the people associate the holiday with the harvest, the young animals and the earliest Petrovka apples.
Two weeks before the feast, the church designated fasting. After the festive liturgy, the priest takes communion with the worshipers, with which he puts himself end of Peter's fasts.
According to popular belief the two saints Peter and Paul were twin brothers. St. Peter was a good old man dressed in white, because when the saints gathered to share the world, it fell to him to hold the keys to the gates of heaven.
In their honor, fairs are held in the villages, where a common sacrifice is made, songs are sung, people are played and rituals are performed, which are believed to protect against fires, thunder and hail.
The youngest rooster, also called Petrovsko chicken, is sacrificed as a sacrifice. The women knead cakes and bring them to church together with Petrovka apples, which are consecrated during the liturgy and distributed for the health of neighbors and relatives.
By tradition of Peter's table together with the young rooster is arranged the festive dish white man or kutmach (whipped fresh cheese, fried with flour), fresh pie, pie with butter and cheese, pumpkin and apples.
