On September 4, 5 and 6 in Kavarna will be held Mussel and Fish Fest 2015. This year, too, mayors are traditionally invited to the festival, who will demonstrate their culinary skills to the public.
The twelfth edition of the festival will be opened by the mayor of Kavarna - Tsonko Tsonev, who will personally surprise the guests with a specialty prepared by him.
The mayor of Tutrakan - Dimitar Stefanov, as well as the mayor of Elena - Dilyan Mlazev will also take part in the mayor's cooking. They say that for now they will not share the recipes they will use to cook at the festival.
The dishes prepared by the mayors will be tasted and evaluated by a selected jury.
Last year, Dimitar Stefanov prepared fish soup with Danube fish for all guests, and his colleague from Karlovo - Emil Kabaivanov, prepared Balkan trout with herbs.
In 2014, Tsonko Tsonev surprised the guests in Kavarna with squid meatballs, which he fried in hot oil and added a sweet and sour sauce. White wine, according to the mayor, goes best with this dish.
The squid is boiled lightly, then cut into small pieces, rolled in breadcrumbs, egg, pepper and salt and spices are added - mint, devesil, dill and lemon - said the mayor of Kavarna about his last year's dish at the festival.
On the 4th, the mayors will cook outdoors in a kitchen located on the main square in the seaside town. From 5 pm on the same day, the guests of the event will be able to watch the culinary battle between the mayors.
Mussel and fish fest 2015 will not pass without a music program. During the three days of the festival the residents and guests in Kavarna will be filled with rock and pop mood.
Mariana Popova, Lubo Kirov and Dani Milev will perform on the first night. Band Five Seasons and Toni Dimitrova will delight the audience with performances on Saturday, and on Sunday the festival will close with the rock band Krossfiere.
