The line / Tinca tinca / is a river fish found in the waters of Europe and Asia. In our country it is also known by the names kalenik, marsh trout, king trout, marsh trout. This species belongs to the family Carp / Cyprinidae /. The lynx lives in swampy bodies of water and slow-flowing rivers that have muddy bottoms. Another characteristic feature is that they inhabit waters with low oxygen content.

The line is gaining weight slowly. Its weight rarely exceeds two kilograms, but we must still mention that larger representatives of the species have been caught. For example, a tench weighing 4.64 kilograms was caught in the Swedish river Lyungbion. Otherwise, the length can amount to more than half a meter. The line can also be recognized by its interesting color. His body is painted in olive green, and in some places golden shades can be seen.

The body of the fish is covered with small scales. It is definitely not designed for fast and sharp movements. The fins of the fish are rounded and relatively small. Her eyes are small, colored red. Lin has a pair of whiskers, thanks to which it is clear to which family the species belongs. The body of the rope is covered with slippery mucus.

Thanks to it, it manages to pass easily and through impassable places for other fish. It is said that this mucus is the reason why it is not attacked by its predatory neighbors in the pond. Another interesting detail is that in this species the males are clearly different from the females. In males, the ventral fins are more elongated.

The lynx prefers a calm and quiet life, which is why it can be found in gullies and dams where vegetation has flourished. He is an extremely lazy fish, which is why he happens to spend years in only one area of a pond. His movements are quite soft and long.

Its menu contains mainly organisms that can be found in the bottom mud. Most often these are worms and larvae. The rope does not like low temperatures and therefore can be seen in shallow areas of water pools.

He likes them because they are the first to warm up during the day, but the last ones are cooled down. The only condition is to have vegetation nearby, the presence of which has a calming effect on the fish. The tench multiplies rapidly. He throws a few servings of caviar.

Catch of tench

In Bulgaria, tench can be caught in the waters of the rivers: Danube, Lom, Veleka, Yantra, Tundzha, Arda, Maritsa and others. It is also distributed in many dams, including: Domlyan, Baikal, Koprinka, Ogosta, Pasarel and Lobosh. Chasing a lynx is an ambitious endeavor that manages to excite even the most experienced anglers. Due to the careful and slow movements of the fish, fishermen have to invent various tactics to lure the water sloth.

Some of the biggest enthusiasts even prepare paddles to move the bottom vegetation. However, care must be taken with them, because they can scare the lazy fish a lot. Otherwise the lures for lin can be very different. Boiled corn and flavored boiled wheat work.

It relies mostly on peat and earthworms. Bait also matters. It may or may not contain parts of the bait. You can get one from specialty stores or use the simplest bread. You should not overdo the amount, it is enough to irritate the sense of smell of the fish with it.

Lin cleaning

Before proceeding to the preparation of the rope, you must clean it thoroughly. To do this, first wash the fish under running water. Then pour hot water over it carefully so that the mucus separates. Another wash with cold water follows. To prevent the fish from slipping in your hands, you can sprinkle it with salt. Then clean the fish from the entrails. To do this, make an incision in the abdomen and remove the organs.

Be careful not to touch the gallbladder, as this will worsen the taste of the fish afterwards. Then remove and grill. As for flax flakes, not all cooks remove them. If you still want to do it, immerse the fish in boiling water for no more than fifteen seconds, then immediately put it in cold. Now carefully scrape the scales with the blunt side of the knife in the direction from the tail to the head of the fish.
