You will have to spend at least 40 leva a day for food if you have decided to spend your summer vacation on your native Black Sea coast. This is the price for a decent breakfast, lunch and dinner in Varna.
This year a cup of coffee in our sea capital reaches 2.50 leva, even in restaurants near the coast and the center, writes the newspaper Trud. A bottle of Coca-Cola costs BGN 2.20. So is a glass of wine.
A bottle of beer sells for between BGN 2.40 and 3.50, depending on the brand, and a liter and a half bottle of mineral water costs between BGN 2.20 and 3.50 - three times more than its normal price.
A lunch in a more modest restaurant will not cost more than 13 leva, and in a more elite restaurant your bill will be around 20 leva.
In the resort of St. St. Constantine and Elena the prices on the menus are much saltier and you will have to pay at least 10 leva more if you eat there instead of in Varna.
The innkeepers from the resort say that they strive to keep the prices of the most consumed drinks (water, soft drinks, beer and coffee) close to their values in Varna.
In Golden Sands, however, this year the prices are almost double compared to those in Varna. The cheapest is coffee, which costs about 2 leva. Beer is about 3.50 levs, a bottle of mineral water - 4 levs, and a glass of wine - about 5 levs.
In Burgas, the bill for lunch or dinner may be lower than in Varna. Lunch for two is between 20 and 30 levs in decent restaurants in the city, and in the more elite dishes will cost you about 70 levs.
Beer and coffee in Sunny Beach remain cheap. However, the most famous Bulgarian resort continues to hold high prices for wine and water.
Tourists on the native Black Sea coast say that the most inflated this year are the prices of a portion of sprat, which costs about 10 leva. The other fish dishes retain their values from last year.
Fried horse mackerel and black grouse cost about 10 leva, salmon 22 leva and shark pane - 18 leva. The dunes, which are sold for about BGN 6, are also expensive this year.
A piece of pizza costs BGN 3, a hot dog costs BGN 4, and a pancake will not cost you more than BGN 3. Cheap this year is the ice cream in a waffle cone, which sells for between 1 and 2.50 levs.
