The registered violations of the food offered on the native Black Sea coast were minimal, the inspections of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency stated.

The news was announced by Damyan Mikov from the BFSA to the Bulgarian National Radio. The expert said that since the beginning of the summer season, a little over 500 sites have been inspected.

Some of them have been issued prescriptions, but this year, unlike the previous ones, the established violations are minimal. Mikov adds that with each passing year, traders in our country are becoming more conscientious about the food products they offer.

The Food Agency specialist declined to say where food is safest on the Black Sea coast and where it is not.

He only adds that the corn sold on the beach is still of dubious quality.

Mikov says it will be much safer if the food on the beach is sold in temporary outlets. However, this must be regulated by law.

The BFSA reminds that there is a distinction between the taste of the purchased food and its condition. When the customer is not satisfied with the taste of the food, he should turn to the Consumer Protection Commission, and when he finds that he has been sold one product instead of another, he should turn to the Food Agency.

The BFSA also monitors food storage, which is why it receives signals for improper storage of products.

Earlier this month, it became clear that some of the hotels and restaurants on the Black Sea coast do not maintain the cleanliness of the equipment they work with.

The audit showed that some sites did not comply with the required level of hygiene, did not take timely measures to control pests, did not comply with food storage conditions, and some of the products lacked the mandatory labels with information on origin and expiration date.

In the case, 36 prescriptions and 4 acts under the Food Act were drawn up.
