From today, all schools in the country will be obliged to deliver food according to the Bulgarian state standard. The chairs had a grace period of one year to clear their warehouses of old food.
November 3, 2016 was the deadline and from today begins the supply of only products according to state standards. The new norm applies to all dairy and meat products.
Bread and flour must be produced according to established standards, and sunflower oil and lyutenitsa - by industry.
Dairy products must be of Stara Planina standard. All pork, beef and poultry products must also be manufactured to this standard. Bread and flour must meet the Bulgarian standard.
The introduction of standards in students' nutrition is aimed at improving the diet of adolescents. Improving food quality will not affect student party prices or portion sizes.
Earlier this month, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency conducted nearly 2,500 inspections of kitchens at kindergartens, school chairs and buffets.
The inspectors drew up a total of 19 acts of violations and 197 prescriptions. 65 kilograms of food were withdrawn, among which the largest amount was lutenitsa and sunflower oil.
The other violations that the BFSA representatives most often encountered were lack of equipment and non-compliance with food safety requirements.
The BFSA warns that during the school year the kitchen units in nurseries, kindergartens, children's kitchens and children's feeding facilities will be inspected under the official planned control.
