Autumn is the season in which we can now enjoy the incredible taste of prunes. Although in the villages this fruit is used mainly for making the traditional Bulgarian brandy, the city markets are strewn with it and young and old enjoy its freshness.

In addition to being delicious, prunes are also very useful. They are very rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber and are used in many diets. And we don't need to enjoy them only in autumn, because we can store them for the winter, when they go well with pork dishes.

And since it's prune season, we've selected 3 more unconventional recipes that you can try:

Prune putty

The plums are washed and pitted. Pour water to cover and cook until completely softened. When cooled, rub through a sieve and add 700 g of sugar to 1 liter of juice. Put the juice back on the stove and boil until it thickens and gets the density of putty. About 30 minutes before it is ready, add 2 tablespoons of wood ash, wrapped in a cloth bag. When everything is ready, the majuna is poured into jars, which are further sterilized.

Prune jam

The plums are washed and pitted. Arrange in a pan and sprinkle with sugar as the ratio of plums: sugar is about 3: 1. After about 3 hours, a little vinegar is added to them and the fruits are baked in a moderate oven. When ready, sprinkle with 3-4 cloves. While it is still hot, pour the jam into jars, taking care to remove the air. Fill to the brim, close with caps and turn upside down until completely cooled;

Halva of prunes

In a deep saucepan, fry a little cornflour in oil. Allow it to cool, during which time dissolve the prune putty in water until a syrup is obtained. Bring to a boil and, stirring constantly, add the cornflour. It is necessary to observe a flour: syrup ratio of about 1: 2. This way you will get a delicious plum halva.
