A new study by a team of researchers at the University of Leibniz in Hanover, Germany, proves that drinking mineral water can be a good way to get calcium along with milk and other dairy products.
Scientists go even further in their claims by finding that mineral water can be an even better alternative than low-calorie milk or taking tablets that meet the daily amount of calcium needed.
The researchers observed the extent to which the body could absorb calcium from five different products, each containing 300 mg of calcium, including three types of calcium-rich mineral water, milk and a calcium supplement.
The study involved 21 men and women to see that there was no difference in how the different sexes absorbed the important element for the body from the five different sources. The researchers found that the presence of other minerals in the water had no effect on calcium absorption.
For us, mineral water is the perfect way to get calcium for the body. The product is an alternative to the calories contained in milk and various other dairy products, says the leader of the research team that conducted the study - Professor Teresa Gripner.
In a world with an ever-increasing number of overweight and obese people, it is important to reduce energy intake and promote alternatives that meet calcium requirements in addition to high-calorie milk and dairy products, she said.
It is known that the human body can extract calcium from two sources - from the food consumed or from the bones. When the body begins to get calcium from the bones, they weaken, which leads to many problems. In addition to dairy products, broccoli, figs and almonds are rich in the important element.
According to the World Health Association, men between the ages of 19 and 70 should take about 1,000 mg of calcium a day, and men between the ages of 70 and above should take 1,200 mg a day. Women between the ages of 19 and 50 should take 1,000 mg of calcium a day, while those over the age of 50 need 1,200 mg a day.

According to recent studies tap water is the better choice for drinking - it is preferable to mineralized. Pediatricians even recommend it for young children. In their opinion, a bottle of tap water from home is the better solution for students, instead of giving them money for water with a high mineral content.
How Do We Get The Daily Dose Of Calcium We Need?
Every day we need calcium to enter our body. In addition to being a fundamental mineral for bone strength, our body uses it for the proper functioning of the heart, blood, muscles and nerves. Without the necessary amount of calcium intake, our body will suck it from the bones where it is stored.
