Winter is the season when we are most prone to gaining weight, but going on a diet during the cold months is a very big mistake.

The warning came from scientists at the University of Michigan, USA. Their experiments for several years show that winter diets weaken the immune system. Which in turn can have unpredictable health consequences.

"People who follow diets in the winter are much more likely to suffer from colds, including the flu, viral hepatitis and acute infectious diseases," scientists from Michigan told the BBC.

They offer some tips for those who still can't come to terms with being overweight:

1. Eat soup for lunch. It will keep you full for a long time.

2. In winter we often eat more because we lack positive emotions. To increase your vitality, eat tryptophan-rich foods: red and chicken, fish, eggs, nuts, cereals.

3. To ensure the necessary carbohydrates and at the same time not to gain weight, replace white bread with wholemeal.

4. Include chili in your diet as it speeds up the heart rate and metabolism. The spice burns fat effectively.

5. Drink more fluids. As a rule, 6-8 glasses of water / liquids should be drunk daily.

6. Walk more often. A 15-minute walk will allow you to get enough daylight to increase serotonin levels. Thanks to walking you will burn 70 calories more.

7. Sleep as much as you need and don't skimp on your sleep. Lack of sleep leads to increased levels of hormones, which increases appetite. That is why the less we sleep, the more we eat.
