Bulgarian consumers took first place in the ranking of the largest consumers of bread in Europe. On average, one person in Bulgaria eats 95 kilograms of bread in one year.

The leading business in the production of bakery products is also in the forefront, according to a study by the International Association of Industrial Bakery Production (AIBI).

Bakeries in Bulgaria occupy a market share of 87%, although employees in this industry in our country are far from the best paid compared to their European counterparts.

The study was prepared on the occasion of the upcoming International Exhibition of Bakery and Confectionery and Related Industries, which will take place from 13 to 16 April in Madrid.

Bulgaria is also in first place in terms of market share of industrial bakeries with 87%, followed by the Netherlands - with 85%, and the United Kingdom - with 80%. In our country, however, work in bakeries is one of the lowest paid.

For 1 hour of work the employees in our country are paid 2.55 euros. Lower pay was recorded only in Russia and Ukraine, respectively by 2 euros and 1.50 euros. The best paid are bakers in Denmark, who receive 35 euros per hour.

The study also noted that the bakery sector in Bulgaria is stable, and that business representatives work under strong pressure from hypermarkets that offer frozen bakery products or semi-finished products at lower prices.
