Belgian biscuits that contain a substance dangerous to human health acrylamide, are distributed in the trade network in our country, informs the European Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Foods.

The announcement of the platform is from July 6, but so far the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has not confirmed whether they have found biscuits with the dangerous substance.

However, the information of the European system claims that these Belgian biscuits have an apple flavor, and the content of acrylamide in them is so high that it can lead to serious health consequences.

Apart from Bulgaria, these biscuits are also sold in France, Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, Spain and the UAE.

Acrylamide has been identified as a dangerous carcinogen that can damage the nervous system, cause skin irritation and even lead to skin cancer.

At the moment, measures taken against the dangerous biscuits are available only in Hungary, OfnewsBg reports.

According to the rules of the European Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Foods, trade names of dangerous products cannot be disclosed.

Only the local control authorities have this right, but there is still no comment from the native Food Agency on the issue.
