They found the source of the deadly infection, which took the lives of 29 people and infected about 3,000. The cause of the epidemic with the insidious bacterium Escherichia coli are grain sprouts grown in Germany.

The information was submitted by the director of the German Center for Infectious Disease Control - Reinhard Burger.

This conclusion was reached after examining passengers on a bus, all of whom ate bean sprouts in the same restaurant.

All of them later fell ill with the first symptom of Escherichia coli - bloody diarrhea.

The following conditions include fever and infections in all organs. Weak immunity further increases the susceptibility to bacterial infection.

This information dispels the accusations of the authorities in Hamburg, who were the first to point out the Spanish cucumbers as a carrier of the bacterium.

The deadly bacterium first affected the nerves and kidneys.

For now, the good news is that, according to Burger, the rate of spread of the epidemic is declining.

Currently, about 700 people are still in hospital with dangerous complications that can lead to acute kidney failure.

According to official data, no case of infection with the dangerous strain has been registered in Bulgaria.

Good personal hygiene is one way to protect against all dangerous bacteria. For now, avoid eating vegetables that have not been cooked. It is absolutely necessary to wash the food thoroughly before eating.

Germany will lift the ban on cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce. It will remain in force only for the consumption of seed sprouts.
