Excessive fatty foods can lead to depression in women, say Australian scientists from the University of Melbourne. According to them, frequent mood swings are characteristic of those women who choose foods high in fat.

To prove their point, they performed laboratory tests on women from different walks of life, at different ages, with differences in education, economic status and physical activity.

It turned out that the volunteers, who overdosed on burgers, white bread, chips, sugar, sweets, beer and all sorts of packaged snacks, in more than 50 percent of cases were under the influence of constant depression.

Women who eat mostly vegetables and fruits, lean meats, often eat fish and wholemeal dough and pasta, much less likely to suffer from depression, as well as frequent mood swings.

Ladies who often eat salad prefer fish instead of red meat, emphasize fruits, nuts and legumes, do not risk ever suffering from depression.
