With the growing incidence of coronavirus worldwide, scientists have estimated that 1/3 of the world's population is in some form of quarantine. This inevitably leads to a change in our habits - isolation causes some to consume more food, and our movement is severely limited. Many people already complain that these changes lead to weight gain.

To avoid this effect, nutritionists warn to reduce the amount of foodthat we consume. The reason is precisely the reduced energy consumption, which causes excess calories to be converted directly into fat. Many people tend to choose a healthier food - sweets instead of fruit, for example, say nutrition experts themselves.

Fortunately, there is no food shortage at the moment, and everyone hopes that the crisis will not lead to such economic collapses. The pandemic however, it is invariably associated with sedentary way of life, often zero motion. At the same time, we either don't work or we work from home, and the fridge and fast food cabinets are literally at hand.

The tendency of people to eat out of boredom or in front of the computer leads to a problematic combination. The quarantine period it turns out to be especially long for most countries, which is detrimental to the waist and our health.

But what does the situation look like in numbers? When we do not do physical activity, our body burns much fewer calories - 300-400 less. If our work before quarantine was associated with hard work or greater activity, and after work you went to the gym or a specific group sport, these calories grow even more.

Here comes the moment of truth: how many people have actually reduced their daily calorie intake by at least 300 calories? Statistics show that these quantities are increasing. Another problem is that under stress, many people seek salvation in food. Unhealthy and high-carbohydrate products often give us comfort.

In order not to gain weight, it is essential to reduce portions. This can be done in several ways - to replace some high-calorie products with poorer energy alternatives. So, if you put whole milk in your coffee - replace it with skim milk. Halve the amount of fat you use to cook. Replace carbohydrates with lower-calorie alternatives. So instead of baked potatoes, make a mix of baked roots - potatoes and carrots, to which you can also add zucchini.

If you have children, the task often becomes more difficult. Kids prefer some foods to others. For example, you will find it difficult to convince them to dine on spinach or broccoli soup and steamed cauliflower.

Instead of ruining family comfort with food scandals, make a plan. Structure the menu so that everyone likes it. If children insist on spaghetti or potatoes, dine together, trying to choose quality products and replace high-calorie products with more useful alternatives.

Another recommendation - do not change the usual time for your main meals and forget about eating in front of the computer or TV all day. Try to have 3 main and 2 snacks, cook on your own, try to be active even at home - through cleaning or home workouts, for example.
