The cabbage soup diet guarantees weight loss and includes some low-calorie foods. It runs for 1 week. This high-fiber diet has been known since the 1950s and it loses 4 to 5 pounds.

It is based on eating cabbage soup to satiety for 7 days. The rapid weight loss in this diet is not due to any miraculous effect of cabbage, but to its low caloric content.
