A new bread that is rich in protein, amino acids and has a very low content of sodium chloride was created by Bulgarian scientists at the Institute of Cryobiology.
The new bread will help reduce bad cholesterol in the body. It will be recommended for consumption by people with diabetes and heart problems, reports 24 hours.
Such a product is being prepared for the first time in Europe. The first samples of this bread were presented at the agribusiness, food and wine forum, which opened this week in Plovdiv.
We made healthy rye bread in several variants - with the addition of pumpkin, sunflower, flax, sesame flour. It lacks GMOs, preservatives and colorants, said assistant Iliana Borisova, who was part of the project.
According to her, this bread contains the extremely valuable amino acid Omega-6, which is found in fish and protects against tumors. The body's defense against bacteria and parasites is also strengthened.
However, in order to feel the positive effects of bread, it must be consumed regularly - at least a year and a half, say scientists from the institute.
The process of making bread has also gone through innovations. Baking time is reduced by 50 minutes and shelf life is increased by 4 days.
