Inspectors from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) have already begun intensified inspections before Easter. According to the plan, the inspections will continue on April 10 and all products that are bought en masse on Easter will be inspected.

When it comes to lamb, experts advise customers to be especially careful. The meat can be offered in the form of carcass, carcass in halves, quarters, as well as in consumer cuts, which are in consumer packaging.

When buying unpackaged meat, consumers should pay attention to the health marking of the lamb carcass. It mentions the veterinary registration number of the establishment where the meat was obtained.

Fresh meat is mostly known on its surface. When fresh, it is dry, without mucus, a pleasant pale pink color and light fat. Cut meat must have a label indicating all the details required by Regulation 11/69.

The lamb in the stores is stored only in refrigerated conditions at the temperature specified by the producer.

The staff is obliged to monitor the expiration date set by the manufacturer of the consumer packaging. In the case of logs, customers must be free to obtain information at the stand from which they purchase the meat.
