More than 25 people showed signs of poisoning after consuming food from the program Hot lunch in Stara Zagora. Four of them, as well as a small child, are in hospital.
The victims are from the town of Nikolaevo, the villages of Edrevo and Nova Mahala, Nikolaevo municipality and from the village of Zimnitsa, Maglizh municipality. They are all diagnosed with food poisoning.
The first signal for poisoning was given in the village of Edrevo at 19:20 on March 29 on the duty phone in RHI - Stara Zagora. A team was sent to the scene, and by the morning of March 30, the number of people with gastrointestinal complaints had risen to more than 25. The number of those affected is expected to increase.
Five people were admitted to the hospital - a 1.5-year-old child, three men and a woman. They are accommodated in the University Hospital Prof. Dr. Stoyan Kirkovich. Their condition is good.
All victims are included in the program Hot lunch. It is funded by European funds and is implemented in the municipalities of Nikolaevo and Maglizh.
The food is delivered by a catering company registered in Sliven district. The inspection showed poor storage of food by the users themselves - without refrigeration conditions.
The results of the samples taken by the people with complaints will be released on Saturday at the earliest. A thorough inspection of the catering company has also been appointed. The mayors of the settlements, as well as the general practitioners, have been informed to monitor the condition of the people who are beneficiaries of the Hot Lunch program.
