Palm oil, not real milk, is offered to us in dairy products under the All inclusive service. This is the practice of most of the native hotels and most of the restaurants, producers warn.

The signal for the imitations of milk, cheese and yellow cheese was given by the milk processors in the country at a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture Desislava Taneva, TV7 reports.

Milk processors complained that mass-imported products with vegetable fats were offered for dairy products, and the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency did not carry out the necessary controls.

BGN 1.60 per kilogram of cheese and BGN 4.70 per kilogram of yellow cheese are the purchase prices at which dairy products are bought from hotel complexes and restaurants, after which they are offered under the All inclusive service, the producers say.

According to them, real cheese cannot be sold for less than BGN 6 per kilogram, and yellow cheese cannot be less than BGN 9 per kilogram.

At the discussion, Taneva promised that measures would be taken on the issue. In no restaurant or hotel in Bulgaria are consumers aware of what they are consuming, as this is nowhere indicated by a label.

Within a month, the Ministry of Agriculture intends to propose the adoption of labels to indicate Bulgarian dairy products. They will wear the national tricolor, which will put an end to speculation as to whether a cheese is Bulgarian or not.

We asked for dairy products to be included in risky goods in terms of supply control. This means that everyone should pay VAT - Desislava Taneva explained to the television media.

The Minister admits that it is not easy for the milk processors in our country, as most of these producers are small and find it difficult to cope with the competition from foreign goods.

They also face problems with hiring, which is why Taneva called for more tolerance, understanding and fairness towards dairy farmers.
