The study involved 23,793 people, 14,000 of whom drank coffee every day. Factors such as the age of the participants as well as whether they smoke and drink alcohol regularly are also taken into account.
The researchers examined the levels of 4 liver enzymes in the blood. It turned out that people who do not deprive themselves of their morning coffee, have 25% fewer enzyme disorders in their blood.
The results were similar in people who drank only decaffeinated coffee.
According to the scientific team, just one cup of coffee a day can counteract the negative effects of alcohol and reduce the likelihood of liver disease.
The link between coffee and liver health has not yet been fully established, as additional evidence is needed to believe that caffeine is beneficial, but scientists say there is nothing to worry about if you can only afford per glass per day.
However, more than 2 glasses a day are considered overconsumption and seriously endanger health. Caffeine is most dangerous for the heart, increasing the risk of coronary heart disease.
