If you are a passionate lover of sweets and all attempts to remove it from the menu or even reduce it are unsuccessful, try to give it up with the help of walks. Walking a quarter of an hour can be very useful for those who are overweight and can not limit the high-calorie sweet temptations, reports Reuters.
The results are of researchers from Austria - from the University of Innsbruck. For the study, researchers analyzed 47 people who were overweight and all were on average 28 years old.
The volunteers had the task of running on the trail for 15 minutes, and the scientists explained that the pace did not suffocate the participants, but was fast enough to catch up with the bus. These 15 minutes influenced the desire of all volunteers in this group to eat sweets, scientists say.
The behavior of the volunteers was compared to the behavior of another group of participants - they did not have any physical activity during the study. Scientists are encouraged by the results and believe that walking can be used as a strategy against the current insatiable appetite and all those unhealthy temptations.
Not only sweets can be limited in this way, but also any high-calorie foods that we reach for when we feel hungry, experts are convinced.
These small short walks act as a cognitive stimulation and distract people from obsessive thoughts about food, experts explain. People can walk when they feel they want to eat something, so they will not be constantly crammed with harmful foods, advise psychologists who are familiar with the study.
The World Health Organization warns that nearly two billion people worldwide are obese or overweight, putting them at increased risk for many diseases.
Among them are cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the respiratory system, hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes and others. Scientists also warn that overweight people are more at risk of premature death than others.
