They smoke is an old Bulgarian grape variety from which wine is produced. Apart from our country, it is also known to the vine growers in our neighboring Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Macedonia and Romania. It is also found in Russia. In our country most vines of the variety grow in Shumen and Stara Zagora. It is also found on the Black Sea coast and in the area around Euxinograd.

Generally smoke is distributed mainly in the eastern and southern parts of the country. Among the Bulgarians it is also known by the names damyat (in Sliven region) and semendra (in Ruse region). In our western neighbors, Serbia and Macedonia call it Smederevka. In Romania it is called semendra, in Turkey - dertonia, and in Russia - galan.

The sheet at smoke is of medium size. It is rounded, not too cut, pentagonal and covered with moss. The petiole is curled upwards. The handle is characterized by medium length and light fluff. At the beginning the leaves are green, but with the onset of autumn they turn yellow. The color of the smoke is bisexual. The bunch is of medium size and cone shape, semi-compact, with a medium-long stalk.

It is relatively thick and woody at first. The grain in this variety is rather large. It is colored greenish or yellow and is round. The flesh is watery, with a fresh and tasty texture. According to some, it has a taste reminiscent of vanilla. The meat is covered with a thin skin. From the fruit of the smoke are obtained white table wines, which are dry and harmonious. It is also used to produce high-quality cognac distillate material. It can be used together with other varieties or alone.
