Everyone knows this wonderful mixture of cookies with the smell of coffee and cocoa, melting in the mouth with a taste that can not leave anyone indifferent. Especially when all the senses crave something nice and sweet.
But does everyone know where and how this amazing recipe for happiness came about?
As it turned out, the path of culinary creations is difficult to follow. But for tiramisu one thing is for sure - his name comes from Italy. Its spelling in Italian is tirami sù, which means lift me high, shoot me - figuratively - to fix someone's mood, to excite and make them happy.
The base of tiramisu is composed of eggs, sugar, cold coffee, mascarpone, alcohol (Marsala or Amaretto - for soaking soft biscuits) and cocoa powder. Prepared separately, these ingredients are superimposed one after the other in separate layers.

Perfect one hundred percent Italian dessert! But still how it starts the history of tiramisu? No one knows for sure what gives rise to various legends.
According to the first, tiramisu was invented in Tuscany in the late 16th century. It was created especially for the visit of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo III Medici. He liked it so much that tiramisu became his favorite dessert and he spread it all over Italy, introducing it to the court of Florence. There, mascarpone was added to the original recipe.
In the 18th century, the dessert became famous outside Italy, thanks to authors who described the recipe in cookbooks. It is said that during the Renaissance, the Venetians offered tiramisu to their lovers to give them more strength, as they considered it an aphrodisiac. It is said that Venetian prostitutes who worked in the city also bought tiramisu to recharge their batteries.
The other legend of tiramisu is far more prosaic. According to her, the great dessert is the result of a trick applied so that the cold coffee and the remnants of cakes do not go to waste. A little liqueur was added to soften the cake and all this was covered with cream or mascarpone.
Over time, tiramisu has evolved into different recipes - those with different biscuits or with the addition of fruit. Recipes for chocolate tiramisu can also be found. A matter of taste.
