A child from Pazardzhik narrowly escaped death. The timely reaction of his parents and the ambulance crews saved his life.
The tenth grader decided to eat before school. The boy made a salami sandwich in which he noticed a bluish dot. He ignored her and ate his lunch.
Minutes later, the boy felt unwell, his head began to tingle, and his movements slowed. He immediately called his parents and finally managed to inform them about his condition. They, in turn, immediately called 112, from where they sent an ambulance. The boy was taken to the hospital in an extremely serious condition - with swollen eyelids and mouth and slowly acquiring purple hues.
The medics in the intensive care unit found that the boy had suffered a severe allergic shock. Fortunately, the team's quick arrival helped prevent a fatal outcome. The boy's condition has stabilized.
According to experts, the most likely cause of his body's acute reaction is a type of chemical dye or preservative added to salami.
The parents provided the rest of the product for testing to the local Regional Directorate of Food Safety and Control. Unfortunately, they have discarded its packaging, which describes the contents and expiration date.
