In fact, not everything is lost, as they say. And this is a great introduction to our article on tahini - that forgotten food that ranks among the healthiest and healthiest foods, giving us vitality, health, energy and youth, which has risen in recent years.

Before we show you how to make your own tahini at home, we will tell you a little more about it.

The tahini is a typical oriental food that we get acquainted with after our country falls into Ottoman hands. It is made from sesame and it is from it that the famous tahini halva is made, as well as one of the modern foods of the last decade - hummus. Let's add our favorite salad, known as Baba Ganush.

In Bulgaria tahini is produced mainly in the Haskovo region, mainly in Harmanli and Ivaylovgrad. It was there that the children, instead of the usual slice smeared with lyutenitsa, were offered a slice smeared with honey and tahini. A real delicacy!

How to make tahini?

It's time to show you how easy you can to prepare tahini yourself at home, and consume it as you wish. Either sweetened, or in the form of an addition to salads and appetizers, or as a basis for our favorite hummus.

To make 1 jar of tahini, you will need only 240 g of sesame seeds and 80 ml of olive oil. Olive oil can be replaced with grape seed oil or, as a last resort, with sunflower oil.

Turn the oven to 180 degrees, turn on the fan and after it heats up, put sesame seeds in it for 8 minutes. It is important to stir it constantly during baking so that it does not burn, but only acquires a pleasant golden color.

Once the seeds have cooled, transfer them to a bowl and grind them with a blender or blender.

The oil is gradually added to them while stirring until the desired density is obtained.
