But in most cases they are quite expensive and sometimes ineffective. In fact, we can try to prepare healthy and tasty home remedies for colds and coughs with very simple and affordable means.
One of the proven natural remedies for this purpose is the fruit of the quince. It is rich in tannins, sugars, essential oil, organic acids (citric, quinic, malic, etc.), pectin, rutin, iron, vitamin C, potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus, some antioxidants and more.
Quince seeds are a major component in the preparation of decoctions for coughs and colds. They contain mucous substances, tannins, nitriles, glycosides, fats, amino acids, organic acids, phenols. The essential oils contained in the skin of the fruit have a beneficial antimicrobial effect, prevent the spread of infection.

Decoction of quince peels and cores
Ingredients:
bark and cores (with seeds) of 1 kg. quinces
water - 1.5 liters
sugar - 7 tablespoons (or to taste)
juice of half a lemon
Preparation:
Pour the crusts and cores into the water (preferably in an enamel saucepan), if desired, you can add slices quinces, so the decoction will be more fragrant, but the whole value and benefit is in the bark and in the core. It is especially good if the seeds in the core are surrounded by wax, the more, the better. Bring to a boil over high heat. Then reduce the heat, cover with a lid and cook for 45 minutes. Strain and add the sugar and lemon juice. Drink as a tea, preferably warmer.
Quince decoction you can diversify by adding apples, using whole quinces, replace sugar with sugar or honey. If you add honey, it is important to do so after the decoction cools down to retain its valuable qualities. You can also add some herbs, such as a few indrishe leaves or 1-2 tablespoons of basil or thyme. The amount of decoction is enough for a daily intake, divided at regular intervals throughout the day. You can prepare the decoction in a smaller amount for a single dose, observing the proportions.
Quince fruit decoction for sore throat and cough
Ingredients:
quince - 1 pc.
water - 250 ml
Preparation:
Boil the water and put the quince (without the core), cut into small pieces. Cook for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and simmer under a lid for about half an hour. Take the strained decoction in 3 equal parts during the day. For children, you can give 1 tablespoon several times a day.
Cough syrup with quinces and walnuts
Ingredients:
quinces - 2 pcs.
walnuts - 3 pcs. goals
water - 1.5 liters
sugar or honey - optional
Preparation:
Wash the quinces well and cut them into pieces, leaving the rind and core. Walnuts are washed and broken - used with the shells. Put together with the water on the stove and after boiling boil for 15 minutes. After cooling, strain. You can sweeten to taste. The amount is drunk for the day in equal parts and time intervals.
Quince seed tea for sore throat and cough
Ingredients:
water - 300 ml
quince seeds - 1 tsp.

Preparation:
For the medicine we will need the cores with the seeds of 2 large or 3 small quinces. Boil the water and put the chopped cores. Cook until thickened like jelly. If you use honey, add it after the jelly has cooled. Add sugar while hot. Especially suitable for children - given 1 tablespoon for a bout of cough.
Traditional expectorant syrup
Ingredients:
quinces - 1-2 pcs.
mint onions - 6 pcs.
Turkish delight - 6 pcs. ordinary
indrishe - 6 fresh leaves
walnuts - 2-3 pcs. goals
onion - 1 head with flakes
water - 1 liter
Preparation:
We wash the quinces well, we will need the peels and the core - we cut them into pieces. We cut the Turkish delight. Wash the onion and cut into 4 without removing the flakes. We wash and crush the walnuts lightly, we will also need the shells. Put all the ingredients in a saucepan on the stove and after boiling cook for 15 minutes on high heat. General recommendations
