Food prices rose by 0.45% or 1,317 points, according to the Market Price Index. Compared to the end of August 2016, prices are 1.5% higher.
The most significant increase was in the price of greenhouse cucumbers, which in the last week were sold by 13.4% more expensive, and in the wholesale markets their weight reached BGN 1.44.
On the other hand, greenhouse tomatoes fell in price by 8.3%, being traded at prices of BGN 0.88 per kilogram. Garden tomatoes have also fallen in price by 2.3%, and their new wholesale price per kilogram is BGN 0.85.
Cucumbers grown in open areas, whose wholesale price fell by 20.2% and a kilogram of them sold for BGN 1.03, also registered a decrease in prices.
Potatoes, on the other hand, have risen in price over the last 7 days by 2.1% and are now trading at BGN 0.48 per kilogram wholesale. Zucchini, which are sold for BGN 0.63 per kilogram wholesale, have also risen in price.
The prices of cabbage and carrots remained, which were sold for BGN 0.45 per kilogram and BGN 0.72 per kilogram, respectively.
There was also no change in the prices of peppers, as a kilo of red peppers is sold for BGN 1.31, and green peppers - at BGN 0.96 per kilogram wholesale.
Of the fruits, the price of watermelons fell the most, which in the last week registered a decrease of 7.4%, and their wholesale weight reached BGN 0.25. For melons the decrease is by 4.2% or BGN 0.70 per kilogram.
In the last week, apples and lemons have also become cheaper, which are already sold for BGN 1.67 and BGN 2.98 per kilogram respectively.
No change was reported for essential goods. The prices of cow's cheese are preserved - BGN 6.20 per kilogram, Vitosha yellow cheese - BGN 10.07 per kilogram, oil - BGN 2.09 per liter, minced meat - BGN 4.70 per kilogram, chicken - BGN 3.74 per kilogram and eggs - BGN 0.19 per kilogram.
