A record omelet with 10,000 eggs was prepared by master chefs in Belgium, called The Omelet Brotherhood, in spite of the crisis with infected eggs in the European Union. The delicious dish was mixed in the town of Malmedy in southeastern Belgium.

The omelet, named the Omelet of Friendship, was prepared yesterday, August 15, when both Orthodox Christians and Catholics celebrate the Assumption. Traditionally, visitors to the Belgian town always visit for the holiday.

The egg crisis has not affected us at all. We have used goods from local producers who have passed the necessary inspection to ensure that the dish is completely safe, says Benedict Matti of the Omelet Brotherhood.

However, there is no denying that this year the number of tourists was several times less than in previous years. According to Matti, this is more due to the bad weather that day than the hysteria with fipronil-infected eggs.

The annual ritual has been held for 22 years and this time has not been canceled, although Belgium has been identified as the main person responsible for the slipped infected eggs.

In addition to 10,000 eggs, another 25 kilograms of bacon, 8 kilograms of spices and 4 kilograms of herbs were added to the omelet. A total of 1 master chef was stirred for 1 hour.

Traditionally, the dish was mixed on the main street in the city, and a pan with a diameter of 4.5 meters and a weight of 1.5 tons was transported to the place.

A small log was lit on the asphalt, and the eggs were mixed with milk and flour in aluminum pans with huge mixers.

The cooking of the dish was accompanied by music just like in the French city of Besser, where they also prepare a huge omelet for Easter every year.
